I really need a case !

After using my iPad for two weeks i really feel that i urgently need some sort of case or sleeve. I looked around online and have decided that i first need some sort of soft and cheap sleeve. I ordered the Jumper Sleeve from Griffin Technologies

I'll probably also need some sort of flip case with an integrated solution to prop the ipad up while it's resting on my lap. I don't like the apple case and the reviews of the thing have not been all that great. I really like the Quirky Cloak case, but i'll wait until they have actual pictures and customer reviews of the case online, not just some pretty renderings.

 

Planst vs. Zombies

Plants vs. Zombies:

After hearing so much about the game on the TWIT podcasts, i took the plunge and purchased the iPad version. The game has a great variety of characters that grows with each level and you can only use a limited amount of character types for each level - which adds a great deal of strategy to the game. Fieldrunners already has a good level of strategy that comes into play, but I'd say that Plants vs. Zombies goes even beyond Fieldrunners - and then some ! So far i've gotten to approximately one third of the available characters and am still hooked.

I give Plants vs Zombies 5 out of 5 stars because of its great graphics and the many characters that you can play with

Fieldrunners

Fieldrunners:

I've played fieldrunners on the iPhone and already liked it alot on the small screen. The iPad version has prettier graphics and much improved orchestral background music. The gameplay has not been changed as far as i can tell. At first i was unsure wether or not i should try it on the iPad, but I'm glad I did.

I give Fieldrunners 4.5 out of 5 stars because of its great graphics, sound and because it has a great replay value.

first glimpse - iPad pros and cons

Pros:

• the battery life rocks. I spent three hours surfing the web, using apps and watching videos and the battery shows 92%. if i did the same thing on my iPhone it would probably be down to 42% or less
• most of the native/new iPad apps are really nice. I did install a couple of iPhone only apps and quickly took them off again - they just look like crap
• it's really fast - opening and closing apps as well as navigating within apps all feels very snappy - it's a delight to use
• the screen quality is superb and really bright

Cons:

• the pages app sucks if you constantly move your iwork content from the ipad over to your mac and back. Just last month i threw out Microsoft Office and went Pages only. So now i imported a dozen or so documents into pages on the iPad and they all got reformatted somehow. I also got a long list of things that were changed or could not be imported (like certain formattings, fonts etc.). The documents all look different than the originals
• no wireless sync. It sucks that i always have to run back to the iMac in order to sync the iPad. this device clearly is a very mobile device and i just don't understand why you have to be plugged into the usb dock in order to sync

the coolness factor of the "Weather HD" app

The first app I immediately installed was "Weather HD". It's a very simple weather forecast app that displays the current weather with a beautifully animated background. It can give you a 4 day forecast as well, but that's about it. There are lots of other weather ipad apps in the store, that offer alot more functionality, but at 99 cents, this app just is a great way to show off your spanking new ipad : )

You can add new locations by tapping the settings icon at the bottom right and there's a "forecast" button at the lower left that gives you a forecast for the next couple of days.

I give this app  4.5 out of 5 stars because of the stunning visuals and since i don't really need all the details that other weather apps offer.
